Chemické divadlo a Divadlo Setkání
'No elders in this city' is a site-specific theatre production created in collaboration between Chemické divadlo and Divadlo Setkání, opening space for the voices of senior citizens. In a performative walk on the boundary between documentary and imaginative theatre, live scenes in public space intersect with visual installations and audio recordings of people from care homes. The production unfolds as a series of dialogues between older and younger generations, between personal experience and public policy.
Stories of loneliness, digital exclusion, relationships and family, sexuality, dignified ageing, death, and the tension between care and autonomy bring forward topics that are often pushed to the margins. The piece approaches ageing as a shared social experience and turns attention to how older people can participate in public life, decision-making, and various forms of civic engagement.
