Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. President-liberator. Defender of truth. The beloved father Masaryk. There are many reasons why his life is worth admiring. Masaryk’s afterlife has been no less remarkable a journey full of unexpected twists: busts, statues and monuments. They had to be hidden during the Second World War and erected once again after the Liberation. After the 1948 Communist coup d’état, they were sent for scrap and appeared once again after the fall of communism in 1989. And it took ten more years before a statue of Masaryk was finally erected in Prague. However, the musical has not been composed for him yet. Therefore, Slovácké divadlo approached the creative duo Dodo Gombár and Róbert Mankovecký.
