An adaptation of the latest novel by Michel Houellebecq. European identity is fracturing, the far right is on the rise, and the world is losing its coherence. Paul, a close advisor to a government minister, witnesses not only the collapse of the political system but also that of his own family. His father is gravely ill, his marriage is failing, and his relationships with his siblings are strained or nonexistent. The boundary between political events and private life becomes increasingly blurred. The question of whether life can still be happy is never spoken aloud, yet it lingers in the air.
